Exploring · Pramaan
Pollution you can prove.
Many people live next to industry and can smell, see or hear pollution but cannot prove it. Pramaan, from the word for proof, would turn what they notice into sealed evidence that goes to the authority responsible, and tell them what happened next.
How it would work
- Share your location in a WhatsApp chat, in your own language.
- Report or ask. Tell us what you smell, see or hear, or ask what others nearby reported in the last few hours.
- Sealed and grouped. Your report gets a receipt and can never be changed later. Reports from the same area are grouped into one case.
- Sent and followed up. The case goes to the authority responsible, and you hear back what happened, or that nothing did.

What's near me?
Last 3 hours within 2 km: 5 smell reports, mostly chemical and strong. Wind from the south-east.
Case update: the evidence pack went to the pollution board on Tuesday. Day 7, no reply yet. Next step: a reminder, then the grievance portal.

What it can and cannot do.
It can
- Prove that it happened, when, how often and with which wind
- Show nearby reports from the last few hours
- Send one strong case to the right authority
- Show publicly how long each authority takes to reply
It cannot
- Say whether a smell or a colour is harmful: that needs lab tests
- Give medical advice: it links to official guidance
- Blame a company: it only publishes facts
- Publish who reported: reporters stay private
